Addictions covers anything where you have formed a habit that you are unable to stop.
This can be things such as -
Over eating
Under eating
Bulimia (overeating and then throwing up)
Compulsive Obsessive Behaviour
The difficulty to release any habit is relevant to whether it is purely habit or whether the habit is stress related and serving another function.
If the latter, then the stress part of the addiction often requires to be released before the mind will release the habit.
If it is only habit, then the sub-conscious mind usually finds it easier to put things into place to overcome the habit.
If the sub-conscious likes the habit, then the expertise of the therapist will assist the sub-conscious to look at the problem to decide how beneficial this habit will be long term.
Does fingernail biting, stuttering, pulling hair, or wetting the bed come under addictions, or should we call these things just habit? It really does not matter, the same thing as above applies. If there is stress, remove the stress, then remove the habit.
How I deal with this issue in Hypnosis?
