TRANSFORMING YOURSELF
There is so much literature out there that promises to transform you into a guru, earning lots of money, better living conditions, having wonderful relationships… etc, with free introduction video or marketing that never quite makes it happen when you have enrolled and dished out your hard earned cash…
At the end of the first course (that would have cost you $X.000’s). You are told that to really achieve you should take the master course at an extra $X.000’s… which leads to the next course $X.000’s… to the next course $X.000’s… until you finally give up.
Or, the alternative, we will teach you FREE OF CHARGE, well almost, for a small $6 or $7 and all you have to do is follow these steps… and again, your ethics and belief system is against this, or your skill levels on the computer makes it so confusing, or you have to spend so much time doing what it takes – Hey Man! Forget it!
Down the track, because you really feel you deserve this (whatever it is) outcome, you again try ‘another’ way on another such equally promising program, spending more $0.000’s that will definitely do it this time. And chances are you will miserably fail again. Sound a bit like yo-yo dieting? It should – it’s just about as effective.
Until you learn the real secret, which is that you have to do what it takes, and no amount of money will make that journey happen for you until you do. It has even been proven that people who win Lotto if they haven’t learnt the basics of how to make money work for them, within a short period will have spent the lot and be just as broke as they were before that Lotto win.
WINNING IS ALL IN THE MIND.
If you did what it took in the first place, you wouldn’t have a problem in the first place. So why do we keep failing? Most failures are self-defeating unconscious habit patterns. And to a greater or lesser degree, we all have these.
I am reminded of two stories I read which came by email. One is said to be an old Cherokee Legend where an old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.
“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.” He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”
The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”
The other story (apologies, I don’t know the author) was to ask you to imagine what you might do if you were going to be filmed 24 hours/7 days a week on what you were doing to achieve the goal you set yourself.
It suggested that 3 things would happen:
1. You would START doing the things you say you needed to do to reach your goal.
2. You would STOP doing the things you know that don’t get you to your goal, and
3. You would effectively reach your goals and change your life. This was ALL possible through the discipline of accountability. (Or dare I say “I-WILL-POWER”.)
How long does willpower last? We are back to the Yo-Yo dieting.
It doesn’t matter if your goal is to increase your business, stop gambling, drink less alcohol, lose weight, stop smoking, get a boyfriend that loves you to bits that allows you to live your life too… and the list can go on, you need to resolve those self-defeating unconscious habit patterns and replace them with ones that support you to achieve your goals. How? Would it be too logical to say “By releasing those self-defeating unconscious habit patterns?” “How do I do that, you ask?”. That is where a well-trained therapist who uses #hypnotherapy and many techniques within the state of hypnosis is able to help you.
In the state of hypnosis, the therapist is creating effective communication between your unconscious and conscious minds. In this state the effective therapist is able to release feelings and emotions that have caused those self-defeating patterns in your life, and replace these with ones that are more fitting to you in your life now. And it would benefit you to learn the dos and don’ts of self hypnosis to continue to implant your future formulated suggestions to fast-track your goals to successful outcomes.
How hard is that, and how long will it take?
Like everything you have already achieved in your life. Repetition… repetition… repetition… is the name of the game. Repetition takes things from short-term memory, to long-term memory, to habit. But imagine that the obstacles to your success have been removed. How much easier will your task become? How much faster will you then be able to bring about your achievements? Couple that with visualising your goals into reality, asking your sub-conscious to go forward five years in repetition… repetition… repetition so it feels like you have been doing this for years… and to evaluate the outcome of what has been put in place. Fine-tuning it (your goal) if it isn’t quite right.
There is new research out that tells us the human brain has more switches than all the computers on Earth. Stephen Smith, a professor of molecular and cellular physiology and senior author of the paper describing the study said; “One synapse, by itself, is more like a microprocessor–with both memory-storage and information-processing elements–than a mere on/off switch. In fact, one synapse may contain in the order of 1,000 molecular-scale switches. A single human brain has more switches than all the computers and routers and Internet connections on Earth”.
Harnessing all that power to our advantage is the monumental task of the future, and that is where I believe that hypnotherapy will come into its own. Over 20 years of practice, I have witnessed such monumental changes in people that it is mind-boggling. How can the sub-conscious achieve that I ask myself. I don’t know the answer, I just know it can.
